A cessação do papel do cuidador informal e a transição para a condição de pós-cuidador: Uma scoping review

Resumo

Contexto: A experiência dos cuidadores informais em fases avançadas da doença e após o fim dos cuidados envolve desafios significativos. Apesar da sua relevância clínica, a cessação do papel de cuidador e a transição para a condição de pós-cuidador permanecem pouco sistematizados na literatura. Objetivo: Mapear a evidência sobre a cessação do papel de cuidador informal e a transição para a condição de pós-cuidador, identificando impactos e necessidades de apoio que orientem a intervenção dos profissionais de saúde. Métodos: Realizou-se uma scoping review segundo a metodologia do Joanna Briggs Institute. A pergunta de investigação, estruturada pela estratégia População, Conceito e Contexto, orientou a pesquisa nas bases de dados Academic Search Complete, CINAHL, MedicLatina, MEDLINE, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, PubMed databases, Scopus e Web of Science. Incluíram-se estudos publicados entre 2013 e 2024, em inglês, português, espanhol e francês. Resultados: Identificaram-se 1681 registos, dos quais sete cumpriram os critérios de inclusão. A síntese evidenciou que a cessação dos cuidados informais constitui um processo complexo e multifatorial, associado a impactos positivos (alívio, reorganização da vida) e negativos (perda de papel, luto, sofrimento emocional). Este processo está ligado a necessidades específicas de apoio emocional, social e profissional, frequentemente pouco reconhecidas e insuficientemente supridas pelos serviços de saúde e redes comunitárias. Conclusões: Os cuidadores informais percorrem trajetórias de adaptação heterogéneas após o fim dos cuidados, com repercussões duradouras na identidade, saúde e bem-estar. Compreender este processo é central para que enfermeiros e outros profissionais de saúde desenvolvam estratégias estruturadas de acompanhamento dirigidas aos pós-cuidadores e para que a investigação futura aprofunde as necessidades deste grupo.
